A wonderful friend has planted the idea in my head to try some baking with green tea powder. I should be able to get some matcha (green tea) powder at my local Asian supermarket, though I think it’s a little pricey so I’ll see how I go. I’ve had a bit of a Google Blogs search and have some up with these potential recipes:
- Kasutera aka Green Tea Sponge
- Green Tea Cake with Cream Cheese Icing
- Green Tea Muffins
- Green Tea Ice Cream
- Green Tea Spritz Cookies
- Green Tea Macaroons
- Green Tea Shortbread
- Green Tea and Red Rice Swirl Bread
- Green Tea Latte, Cupcakes, Truffles & Panna Cotta
- Ginger Crunch Green Tea Biscotti
1. Green Tea Cupcakes, 2. Bright, 3. Green Cake, 4. matchacookies_dec11_08_006, 5. my first cupcakes, yaaaay! it’s totally coming together!, 6. Matcha Génoise Cake
Do it, dood. If you can pull of that combo of green tea taste and super-light sponge, you’re rocking.
Have you been to Poporo in town? You’d love that action. Michael C will take you. Or we will.
I haven’t tried the sponge yet but did have a go at some cupcakes with icing which were all in all pretty successful. Is Poporo up the top of Market City or am I thinking of somewhere else? We should definitely go, I would also love to chat to you about my upcoming honours project as I am starting to get cold feet…
