Flickr just keeps rocking my world! This McCallum Hosiery advertisement is so cute. I love the scales on her bathing suit and the scarf forming a fin to mirror the carp jumping. I really dig M.C. Woodbury’s illustration style. I also dig Gatochy on flickr, check out these sets of Flappers, 1850 – 1919 Advertising, Anna May Wong and heaps more excellent stuff from back in the day.

Finally another tutorial finished in my Vintage and Retro Photoshop Tutorials series!

Tutorial #4 Vintage Collage

I started work on this collage quite a while ago but considering recent events I guess it’s a tribute to the late, great Bettie Page.

This is the tutorial I worked from, again I used the techniques in the tutorial to make my own composition. This tutorial was fun but felt quite similar to the tutorial I worked through for Part 1 but with less grunge factor.

I used stock from heaps of places for this one, including reusing some bits from previous tutorials:

I have decided that I will not waste my holidays by sitting around drinking tea and downloading trashy television shows, this will still happen just in moderation. Instead:

My holiday project #1:

I’m going to work through one of these 35 tutorials on retro and vintage graphic effects every 1 – 2 days and post the results on my flickr and this blog. It’s going to be sweet and by the end I will have a nice collection of images and skills.
